There are more than 1550 species of flies in Namibia of which the House Fly, Bottle Fly, Fruit Fly, Drain Fly and Horse Fly are the most popular.
An adult lay up to 850 eggs in their short lifetime of up to 4 weeks. About half of those eggs are female and they start to lay eggs after as little as 12 days after being laid themselves.
Flies can travel up to 30km from the place they were hatched to find food.
HOW FLIES FEED
Flies can not eat or digest solid food. What they do is to put a drop of their very strong saliva on a piece of food, liquefying it in order to suck up the softer food through their tube-like tongues.
That is what makes flies filthy. The fact that they spit on our food and also drop feces regularly makes flies one of the most filthy insects to have around.
How do we combat flies?
1. The Specialists Fly Bucket
Our Fly Buckets comes with 2 months worth of bait developed by The Specialists and works like a charm in trapping thousands of flies at once.
2. Residual Spray
Secondly we do a residual perimeter spray with a pheromone enhanced chemical that attract flies and kill them on contact.
"We can control flies because we understand flies."
